St Louis came out of the Matini era with victory

After six seasons and a half, under the direction of Mike Matini, St. Louis Cardinals won the first game after the dismissal of his longtime MLB coach. Led by temporary coach Mike Shildt late last night, the `chips` beat home 6:4 against the Cincinnati Reds and broke their series of three consecutive losses in the regular season. Matini was released on Saturday night after 2:8 in the second game of the series against the Reds of Bush. This was the sixth consecutive home loss for St Louis (48-46), currently lagging behind seven and a half games in the Central Division of the National League Chicago Cubs (55-38). The Matini era ended with a total balance for Cardinal 591-474 from the beginning of 2012 to the middle of 2018. The 47-year-old former club manager became manager immediately after the 2011 season and led the teamto the playoffs in each of their first 4 years at the head. In the last two seasons, however, the team stayed out of the battle for the title. `When a coach is fired, it`s because of us, the players, so we do not do the job, I`m glad I say it, but that`s the situation, and it`s our fault, ` said St. Patrick`s DayLuis Yadier Molina. It was he who inherited Mike Matini as the title holder in 2005.

In the debut of Mike Shildt  as Premier League manager, Cardinals led 2:0 after two innings, made a complete turn in the 4th, butimmediately took his advantage back and managed to keep him in the 9th. Matt Carpenter and Dexter Fowler hit a solo home in the 1st and 2nd innings against Reds Anthony Descalfani`s starter (L 4-2). In the 4th Tommy Fam he recorded 2 RBIs with a single hit and Jose Martinez and Molina scored one point respectively with a land and a single.

The Cincinnati guests scored three times in the opening of the 4th innings thanks to a single hit with 2 RBIs for Adam Duvall and a hit in the Jose Peraza's infiltration.
