The Bayern Munich president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has criticized UEFA for the way the European headquarters has handled the Manchester City case and financial fair play. In February, UEFA imposed a two-year sentence on `citizens` for violating financial discipline rules, but two weeks ago the Lausanne Court of Arbitration overturned the ruling on the grounds that `the alleged violations are either unproven or expired`.
`It seems that UEFA has not done its job!`, Rummenigge told a news conference. He added that he was happy that former Bavarian coach Pep Guardiola would continue to play with his team in the strongest football tournament, but called on UEFA to take action on the rules of financial fair play.
`When the financial fair play rule was introduced 10 years ago, UEFA explained that it would not allow clubs prediction by football-capper to spend more than they earn. This must again be a central requirement and financial fair play needs to be changed to that end.`, said Rummenigge. `We have to find a rule that is accepted by everyone - players, agents and clubs. Then everyone will benefit from financial fair play, ` explained the legend of German football.
