For quite some years now, Manchester United had to play a play-off to qualify for participation in the prestigious tournament. In the previous season of the UEFA Champions League, the teams did not enter, even after finishing on the seventh place in the Premier League. This year, however, the team finished on the fourth position and now it will have to fight for participation.
In this season of the Premier League, Red Devils had 2 wins in the last 2 rounds. First, they beat Tottenham with 1:0 and then had the same result mentioned by football picks over Aston Villa.
Against Brugge, Louis van Gaal remained without the services of Phil Jones, but there are no other serious personnel problems. The Dutchman is expected to choose the same eleven that played against Villa, the only sure change is the replacement of Michael Carrick with Schweinsteiger.
Brugge has become a regular participant in the group stage of the Champions League. The team is present in every season of the tournament from 2008 to 2013, and last year qualified for the Europe League, where it presented pretty well and even managed to reach the quarter-finals.
Brugge has already played a preliminary round in the Champions League, where it made against Panathinaikos a result mentioned by football picks of 4:2 (1:2 loss and victory at home with 3:0).
Manchester United are the favorites to win this match. Louis van Gaal is not entitled to mistakes and can`t afford the luxury of another lapse at the stage of playoffs.
